Ready to try scuba for the first time in Isla Mujeres? Discover Scuba Diving is a fun, supervised experience designed for complete beginners. You learn a few essentials on land, practice in shallow water, then make two real ocean dives with a patient instructor at two of our favorite sites: the MUSA Underwater Museum and a nearby reef. Check-in is at 9:30 am daily at our Isla Mujeres shop. We start with a friendly orientation that covers how the equipment works and the hand signals you will use. After fitting your gear, you ease into a confined-water practice session in shallow, calm water where you’ll breathe from a regulator and rehearse simple skills at your pace. Once you feel comfortable, we board the boat. Your first dive is at MUSA, where life-size sculptures create an unforgettable underwater scene. You stay close to your instructor, moving slowly and enjoying the fish and clear water. After a surface interval with water and light snacks, we continue to a shallow reef for your second dive, focusing on relaxed buoyancy and easy exploration. Total time on the water is about 5 hours dock to dock. What’s included All scuba equipment sized for you, masks and fins, optional wetsuit, trained in-water instructor, bottled water, light snacks, safety equipment on board, shade and easy ladder entry. With Manta there are no hidden dock or park fees. Who can join Ages 10 and up who are comfortable in the water and able to swim. No prior experience is required. A standard medical questionnaire is completed before the activity. If any item requires a doctor’s clearance, please bring it with you so we can dive the same day. Helpful tips Bring a swimsuit, towel, reef-safe sunscreen, and a light cover-up. Non-diving companions are welcome to join as snorkelers or riders on this same departure, subject to space. Conditions are checked each morning for safety. If the port closes or the sea is unsuitable, we will reschedule or refund.
