PADI Enriched Air Nitrox - Cancun
More dive time - less fatigue
Service Description
PADI Enriched Air Nitrox, usually just called nitrox, is a breathing gas with more oxygen than air. Air is 21% oxygen. Nitrox is typically 32% or 36%. Less nitrogen going in means less nitrogen to get rid of, and that changes what you can do with a dive. WHAT IT GIVES YOU Longer bottom times. Less nitrogen absorbed means you reach your no-decompression limit later, so you can stay down longer. Shorter surface intervals. You off-gas less, so you are ready for the next dive sooner. Better repetitive diving. On a two or three dive day the advantage compounds, which is where most divers actually notice it. Less fatigue. Not proven in studies, but reported by enough divers often enough to be worth mentioning. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO Nitrox is not a deep gas. The more oxygen in the mix, the shallower your maximum operating depth: around 110 feet on 32%, around 95 feet on 36%. Going past it risks oxygen toxicity, which is sudden and serious. Calculating that limit is the main thing this course teaches you. It also does not automatically make you safer. Nitrox lowers your nitrogen loading for a given dive, so if you dive it on air limits you gain a real safety margin. If you spend that advantage on longer bottom times instead, which is why most people buy it, you finish roughly where an air dive would have left you. Both are legitimate choices. The course is about knowing which one you are making. WHAT THE COURSE INVOLVES PADI eLearning at your own pace, covering the theory. Practical instruction with an instructor: using a gas analyzer, analysing your own oxygen content, marking and logging your cylinder, and setting your dive computer correctly. There are no dives in this course and it is quick to complete, so it fits around diving you are already doing with us. BEFORE YOU BOOK You need to be a certified diver. Your PADI eLearning is included in the price. Included: PADI eLearning, instruction and certification. Not included: nitrox tank fills, which are charged per tank when you dive.
