Snorkel with whale sharks off the coast of Cancun, the largest fish in the ocean, on a summer-only adventure beside these gentle giants. Every year from June to August they gather in the warm waters off the Yucatan to feed, and there is no bigger or more humbling wildlife encounter in the Mexican Caribbean. We pick you up from your hotel in an air conditioned van, so your day begins with nothing to arrange and nothing to carry. At the marina a bilingual naturalist guide runs a full safety briefing and explains how we share the water responsibly with the animals. Then, in the small groups the marine park requires, you enter the water with your guide and snorkel alongside whale sharks as they glide past, some of them longer than the boat itself. No certification and no diving experience are needed, just the ability to swim, and a life vest keeps you comfortable at the surface the whole time. The tour welcomes guests from ages 5 to 80. After your time with the whale sharks we stop near Isla Mujeres at Playa Norte for a fresh ceviche and sandwich lunch with water, sodas, fruit, and snacks, and time to relax before the ride back to your hotel. Whale shark season is short and space on each boat is limited, so we recommend booking early to secure your spot. Included: round trip hotel pickup in an air conditioned van, bilingual naturalist guide, snorkel equipment, life vest, marina entrance, ceviche and sandwich lunch, water, sodas, fruit, and snacks. Not included: the marina dock fee and environmental tax (about $20 US per person, paid at the marina), an optional video package (80 USD, paid on arrival), alcoholic drinks, and gratuities.
